Whats On

The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir is now established as one of the premier choirs in the North and has a hundred members. Having just celebrated in the past two years the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir has appeared on BBC Television’s Songs of Praise, and performed with internationally known artists such as Emma Kirkby and Sir Willard White. Under the dynamic leadership of its conductor, Andrew Padmore, the choir continues to enhance its reputation and build audiences. Last year the Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir became the first major choir outside Huddersfield to perform at the Town Hall. Their performance of Karl Jenkins’ ‘The Armed Man’ and Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’ was received with wide praise and acclaim from press and public alike.

The next twelve months will see the Choir undertaking a varied programme in different locations. Summer sees the choir performing in Wakefield and at the Royal College of Music in London before a tour of Normandy that will include performances in Bayeux and Coutances Cathedrals.

New members are invited to a taster session in September. Alternatively they can attend three rehearsals which is then followed by an audition.
