Wrenthorpe Environmental Society has been conserving and improving the environment of Wrenthorpe, near Wakefield, for 15 years.

WRENS has completed many successful projects over the years and has received recognition of its work from Wakefield District Environmental Action Forum (WDEAF). The Wrencare Project, which is co-ordinated by WRENS and supported by many Wrenthorpe organisations and businesses, was awarded the Anti-Litter Cup 2004.

In the 2004 Care for your Village Competition. WRENS received an award for the new Village Sign: a replica kiln outside the Village Hall. In the 2005 Competition WRENS was awarded first prize for the publication of A GREEN OASIS: a leaflet about Alverthorpe Meadows and Wrenthorpe Park.
