Geoff Leathley and a Norfolk landscape

Our first meeting of the new year and it was a bitterly cold night but Geoff took us back to his holidays in sunny Somerton in Norfolk

The Somerton scene was drawn in blue acrylic on a board which had been painted over in yellow ochre and burnt umber to get rid of the glaring white.

It soon became obvious that Geoff was a lover of the impressionists. It was all about creating mood and not getting bogged down in detail.

Small brushmarks in the middle distance suggesting trees and buildings in warm colours - drawing the eye into the centre.

Buildings in the foreground were in silhouette and the foreground fields in shadow. Nothing was too focused but the end result in so short a time was brilliant!!
