Wakefield Speaks

A picture for Wakefield-Speaks

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council is following last year’s successful Wakefield Speaks events and Mays ‘Wakefield Cabinet Listens’ with more ‘Wakefield Speaks’ in June and July. ‘Wakefield Speaks’ provide an opportunity for citizens in the district to get involved and have their say on issues affecting them, including information about the services being provided, what is working well and how we can shape future delivery to meet local needs. The event will be attended by representatives of Wakefield District Partnership, including the Council, West Yorkshire Police, the Health Service and many more. In addition refreshments and entertainment by local community groups will be provided.

The key themes of the events will be focused on Wakefield District Partnership’s ‘Developing Knowledge Communities – the Community Strategy’ – Safer and Stronger Communities, Healthier Communities and Skills and Enterprise. Last Years Wakefield Speaks events were very successful, with over 500 people taking part. Over 99% of those who attended last year’s events fed back positively and felt that they were useful in learning more about what was happening locally to address local concerns.
