Volunteer Awards

In order to acknowledge the hard work and support that people give, unpaid, to the sport of Rugby League the RFL recognise and reward their efforts through its Volunteer Awards Scheme. These awards take place locally in the different service areas with the winners from each area going into the national awards.

There are five different categories of awards. Last year the five winners in the Wakefield Service Area were presented with their awards at a game of their choice on the field at half time. The winners in each category were, DANNY GRICE from Stanely Rangers - "Building the Team". MICK LANE from Fryston - "Service Area/Leagues". DAVE SCOTT from Castleford Lock Lane - "Club Development". JAMIE HOBBS form Sharlston Rovers - "All Rounder". EMMA KING from Stanley Rangers - "Youth Volunteer of the Year"

Emma King was the only winner from the Wakefield Service Area to go on and win the National Award in her category and was presented with the award on the pitch at half time of the Challenge Cup Final in front of 65,000 people.
