About us

The Wakefield District Badger Group is a registered charity which has been in existence since 1992. The primary aim of the group is the protection and conservation of badgers. Run by enthusiastic volunteers we enjoy the support of the Wakefield Council’s Countryside Service, the RSPCA, West Yorkshire Police and the Badger Trust amongst others. The group surveys for and collects records of badgers anywhere within the Wakefield Metropolitain District. Have you seen a badger in our area? Why not let us know through our contacts page?!

The group meets regularly throughout the year to carry out surveys, build artificial setts, fundraise and give talks, information and advice about badgers.

We are also members of the Northern Badger Forum, a collection of badger groups and agencies across the north of England who share information in order to deter, detect and prosecute against badger offences.

If you'd like to get involved why not join the group? Visit the "join us" page.

Alternatively, if you would like to support the work of the group but don't wish to become a full member, then why not become a "friend of the group"? Your donation will be put directly into helping conserve the badgers of the Wakefield District.
