Concert Details
Details of our concerts for the 2009/10 season are shown below

Concert No 1 on 17 October 2009
We start our season with The Quatuor Ardeo, a highly talented young French string quartet who met at the Paris Conservatoire. The players are Carole Petitdemange, Olivia Hughes, Caroline Donin and Joelle Martinez and they have been awarded a number of prizes for their playing.
The programme will include Mozart's Quartet No 19 in C Major (Dissonance) and Mendelssohn's Quartet No 2 in A Minor plus pieces by Stravinski and Schubert

Concert No 2 on 21 November 2009
For this concert, we welcome an old friend - Chris Grist (cello)who will be joined by David Wright (harpsichord).
Chris will be playing some of Bach's unaccompanied cello suites and the programme will also include Handel's Sonata for Cello and Harpsichord and a performance of the Bach Goldberg Variations which David has performed extensively and has recorded.

Concert No 3 on 16 January 2010
Darius Battiwalla last came to us as part of a duo but we are pleased to welcome him back as a solo pianist.
Continuing our policy of requesting performances of one of Beethoven's well known Sonatas each season, this year Darius will be performing the Moonlight Sonata. Other items in the programme will be finalised nearer the date but will definitely include Schubert's B Flat Major Sonata.

Concert No 4 on 6 February 2010
Andrew Booth (guitar) and Stephanie Oade (cello) are two highly talented and award winning young musicians who have both studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. Their eclectic programmes take listeners on a musical journey around the world. This concert is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
The programme for this concert will range from Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata to Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango, plus pieces by Gnattali, Ravel, Debussy and Villa Lobos.

Concert No 5 on 27 February 2010
All three members of the Brahms Horn Trio have performed for the Society before in different groups - Richard Bayliss (horn), Arisa Fujita (violin) and Sam Heywood (piano). Their talents are well-known to us and we are looking forward to this concert with anticipation.
The concert will feature Beethoven's Horn Sonata and Brahms Horn Trio, together with two pieces for violin and piano again by Beethoven and Brahms.

Concert No 6 on 20 March 2010
For our final concert, we are pleased to welcome back artists from Ensemble 360 who are based in Sheffield. Tim Horton (piano) and Matthew Hunt (clarinet) have been to the Society before and they will be joined by Marie Mcleod (cello) and Benjamin Nabarro (violin).
The programme will include Mozart's Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano and Beethoven's Piano Trio in B Flat - Archduke, together with some "party" pieces to give us a sparkling end to the season.
