Darius Battiwalla last came to us as part of a duo but we are pleased to welcome him back as a solo pianist.

Continuing our policy of requesting performances of one of Beethoven's well known Sonatas each season, this year Darius will be performing the Moonlight Sonata. Other items in the programme will be finalised nearer the date but will definitely include Schubert's B Flat Major Sonata.

Andrew Booth (guitar) and Stephanie Oade (cello) are two highly talented and award winning young musicians who have both studied at the Royal Northern College of Music. Their eclectic programmes take listeners on a musical journey around the world. This concert is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

The programme for this concert will range from Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata to Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango, plus pieces by Gnattali, Ravel, Debussy and Villa Lobos.

Concert No 5 on 27 February 2010

All three members of the Brahms Horn Trio have performed for the Society before in different groups - Richard Bayliss (horn), Arisa Fujita (violin) and Sam Heywood (piano). Their talents are well-known to us and we are looking forward to this concert with anticipation.

The concert will feature Beethoven's Horn Sonata and Brahms Horn Trio, together with two pieces for violin and piano again by Beethoven and Brahms.
