The Parent's Right: Allah Says in the Quraan: 14) And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning is in two years-give thanks to Me and to your parents. Unto Me is the final destination .(Part 21, Luqman:14) 15) But if they (both) strive with you to make you join in worship with Me others that of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not; but behave with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who turns to Me in repentance and in obedience. Then to Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do. (Part 21, Luqman:15) And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say '' My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young''.(Part:15, Al-Isra 23 & 24) Worship Allah and join none with Him (in worship) and do good to parents, (Part:5, An-Nisa:36) Hadrat Abu Hurairah(RA) has related that the Prophet said:"Be kind to your parents so that your offspring be kind to you".

Hadrat Abdullah Bin Mas'ood(RA) said:I asked the prophet which action is dearest to Allah and he replied "Prayer at its proper time." I asked what came next and he replied that it was kindness to parents. I asked what came next and he replied that it was Jihad in the path of Allah. It has been reported in traditons that the one who wishes to have his provision enlarged and his term of life prolonged should be kind and join ties of relationship and shouldtreat his parents well. It has been reported in another traditon that the pleasure of Allah lies in the parents pleasure and the displeasure of Allah lies in the parents displeasure. Associating anything with Allah and disobedience to parents is at the top of the list of major sins. One of the three people for whom Paradise is declared forbidden is the person who is disobedient to his parents. Of all sins, Allah forgives which he wishes except undutifulness of parents for which he gives punishment in advance in this life to the on who commits it before he dies. One of the finest acts of kindness for a man is to treat his parents friends in a kindly manner after he has departed. One who after his parents death, repays the debt incurred by them and fulfills the vow made by them, will be treated by Allah as obedient to his parents even though he was disobedient to his parents during thier lifetime. But if one who, after the death of his parents niether repays the debt made by them or fulfils the vow made by them will be treated by Allah as disobedient to his parents even though he was obedient to them during thier lifetime.

Kindness towards the Mother: Bahz bin Hakim(RA) on his father's authority said his grandfather told him that he had asked Allah's prophet to whom he should show kindness and he replied "Your mother." He asked (the third time) who came next and he replied "your mother." He asked (the fourth time) who came next and he replied "your father, then your relation in order of relationship." Hadrat Ibn Abbas(RA) has related that the prophet said "if anyone obeys Allah regarding his parents in the morning, two gates of paradise will be opened for him, and if there is only one parent then only one gate will be opened for him. And if anyone disobeys Allah regarding his parents in the morning then two gates of Hell are opened for him." A man asked does that apply even if they treat him wrongfully and he said "Yes, even if they treat him wrong fully." Hadrat Abu Hurairah(RA) has related that the prophet said "May he be humbled, may he be humbled, may he be humbled!" He was asked who he was speaking about and he replied "The one who, having parents that live to old age, does not enter Paradise." Hadrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas(RA) has reported that the prophet said "No dutiful son gives his parents a kind look without Allah recording to his credit an approved pilgrimage for every look. He was asked if that was even if he gave them a hundred daily looks and he replied "Yes, Allah is most great and most good." Someone came to the prophet and said "Messenger of Allah I have wealth and my father is in need of it." He replied "You and your wealth are for your parents, certainly children are thier lawful earnings, so they can eat from the earnings of your offsprings without any fomality.

Rights of Parents After their Death: Hadrat Usaid as-Sai'di said, while we were with the prophet, a man from Banu Salima came and said to the prophet "Messenger of Allah, is there any kindness left that I can do with my parents after thier death?" He replied "Yes, you can invoke blessings on them, ask for forgiveness for them, carry out thier final instructions after their death, join ties of relations that are dependent on them and honour their friends." Hadrat Anas Allah be pleased with him) has related that Allah's messenger said ''The parents a man die or one of them dies, and he has been undutiful to them, then he keeps on making supplication and asking forgiveness for them till Allah records that he is dutiful! Hadrat Abu Umar(Allah be pleased with him) reported that the prophet was saying, "One of the finest acts of kindness for a man is to treat his father's friends a kindly way after he has departed.

Rights of the friends of the Parents: The prophet is reported to have said, "Be courteus to your father's friend. Do not severe ties of relationship with him, lest Allah, the great should extinguish your light."

Reviling the Parents: Hadrat Abdullah bin Amar(RA) has reported that the prophet was saying "A man reviling his parents is one of the serious sins." He was asked "Messenger of Allah, does a man revile his parents?" He replied "Yes, he reviles the father of a man, who then reviles his father. And he reviles a man's mother, who then reviles his."
