The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract cares for adults with progressive illnesses, when it is recognised that their illness is no longer curable. The specialist respite, terminal and palliative care we provide concentrates on our patients’ quality of life and on providing a support system for those close to them. The hospice has 10 single en-suite bedrooms for patients, as well as a day hospice which can accommodate up to 10 people each weekday. We also run a clinic treating patients with Lymphoedema. ALL our services are provided to patients free of charge. The hospice is open 365 days a year at a cost of over £4000 a day, less than a third of which comes from the government. Our services are available to around 190,000 local people.
We have regular special events to help raise funds here are our upcoming ones for the rest of 2007:
- Health and Beauty Evening Thursday 27th September, Turnpike Hotel, Knottingley, £7.50, 5pm - 9pm, canapes and arrival drink, mini sessions of reflexology, massage, facials and reiki available for £5, book now to avoid disappointment.
- Great North Run Sunday 30th September, Newcastle, all places filled. Please call if you would like to take part next year.
- Yorkshire Business Network James Bond Ball Friday 5th October, Rogerthorpe Manor, Sparkling wine, canapés, 3-course dinner, live singer, casino tables, auction and table magic. Tickets £45. Sponsorship opportunites also available.
- Autumn Fayre Saturday 13th October, Pontefract Library, 9.30am - 3.30pm, crafts, gifts, handmade goods, cakes and games.
- Quiz Night Tuesday 9th October, Kings Croft Hotel, £2.50
entry. Maximum 4 people per team. Entry in advance or on the night. Donations of raffle prizes welcome.
- Xcetra Fashion Show Thursday 18th October, 7.30pm, Rogerthorpe Manor, £7
- Sporting Dinner Friday 19th October, Featherstone Rovers' Chris Moyles Stadium. Sporting guest speaker John Bentley and comedy from Carl Schofield. Tickets £35 each or £240 for a table of 8.
- Winter Masquerade Ball Saturday 17th November, Rogerthorpe Manor, £40. Sponsored by Scottish and Southern Ferrybridge "C" Power Station.
