The Merrie City Singers

The Merrie City Singers are Wakefield's Community Choir. We are an informal, friendly group, open to everyone. We don't hold auditions and don't expect members to be able to read music. Although we do sometimes sing at public events, we mostly sing for fun and because we find it therapeutic.

The music we sing is wide ranging but largely non-classical. It includes music from around the world (e.g. Africa), gospel, folk, pop(e.g. Beatles songs) and pieces composed by leading exponents of the community choir/Natural Voice movement e.g. Nick Prater.

We meet every Wednesday during term time from 7-9 in Room 20 at Manygates Adult Education Centre. No-obligation taster sessions are free. For further information contact Jean on 01924-376755 or Linda (details below)
