The St Raphael Singers is a local choir whose main aim is to help churches and charitable organisations raise funds. We are around 35-40 strong, a choir of mixed voices and our repertoire extends from light classical music to arrangements of modern pop songs. For the 2009 season, we are currently reheasing songs such as: Mull of Kintyre, Ain't Misbehaving, Chattanooga Choo Choo, the Lincolnshire Poacher and a Back to the Sixties medley ... which gives an idea of the diversity of the music we perform.
We give concerts in many locations in and around Wakefield ... on average about one a month. We warmly welcome new singers of any ability, the main requirement is that you love singing. There is no formal audition and you don't need to be able to read music. We would especially like to hear from any Sopranos or Tenors who are interested in joining us.
If you would like to know about our fundraising concerts, or if you are interested in joining the choir, please ring Joyce for more information. We rehearse in the St Raphael Chapel at Pinderfields Hospital every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. If you are visiting anyone on a Wednesday evening, please take a few minutes to come and listen to us rehearse.
