Whats On

The Wakefield Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale is committed to preserving the traditional British public house and naturally produced cask-conditioned beers which are almost unique to the British Isles.

We support the traditional craft brewers of the Wakefield District and beyond through our annual Merrie City Beer Festival held each October. Please visit our website for the latest details. We also make awards to local public houses and licensed clubs for excellent beer quality, publicise the Real Ale cause and the work of local licensees, brewers and maltsters through our quarterly magazine O-to-K (Ossett to Knottingley)which is distributed free in the district and beyond. We endeavour to monitor licensing and planning issues where these affect licensed premises, maintaining a database of premises within the Wakefield District.

You are invited to go on a journey of exploration through our website, visit local brewers and maltsters past and present and see what's in our Branch Diary. It is linked to CAMRA's national website where you can sign up for membership.
