The Constitution

1. The name of the organisation is Rainbow Community Food Co-op.

2. The purpose/aims for which this organisation is set up are: To provide access to quality and affordable food, thereby, promoting health and wellbeing within local communities.

3. The activities by which the organisation will carry out its purposes/aims: • Determine sources to supply affordable foodstuffs. • Providing a service by distributing within the communities (hired transport). • Providing volunteering and training opportunities, thereby, raising awareness of food issues for the volunteers and the communities. • Rainbow Community Food Co-op will be the link to other services. • To acquire funds for a paid worker if deemed appropriate.

4. Membership of the organisation shall be open to any person who is interested in carrying out the purposes/aims of the organisation. Every member shall have one vote.

5. At the Annual General Meeting of the organisation the members shall elect Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and members of the Committee. • Up to one quarter of the total number of the Executive Committee may be appointed as co-opted members. Co-opted members have the r!ght to vote. + All members of the Executive Committee shall retire from office together at the end of the AGM next after the date on which they came into office though they may be re-elected or reappointed. + If a member of the Executive Committee resigns the Executive Committee may appoint someone in their place up to the time of the next Annual General Meeting.

6. No Member of the Executive Committee shall benefit from the work of the Organisation other than as any ordinary member of the organisation might benefit, allowance being made however for out of pocket expenses.
