Notton Village

A picture for Notton-Village

Notton village is mid-way between Wakefield and Barnsley just off the A61 near the M1 Woolley services, junction 38. It's in Wakefield MDC in West Yorkshire - we have Wakefield postcodes (WF4 2__) but we have Barnsley telephone numbers. There are working farms and open countryside around the village and there remains a strong sense of community which 'incomers' over the past 40 years or so have joined and added-to rather than diminished.

We have a thriving village hall which is the venue for social events, parish council and club meetings etc., residents association and a community owned and operated village shop and sub-post office.

The annual village gala on the village green takes place on Sunday June 11th in 2006 and with professional central arena attractions as well as village and charity stalls and shows and a good weather forecast we expect around 5000 visitors. Will add more to this later but you can also browse our website at www.notton.org.uk
