All Aboard

The willing helpers climbed aboard a Friend's truck for a lift to the Wood.

It was a cold, wet morning so the ride was very welcome.

Old Village

First we followed Ranger Dave to see the old village site.

Small legs had to work hard, stomping through the undergrowth.

Found It

At last. One of the little homes is located ... and suddenly they seem to be everywhere.

These homes will stay in place when the new village has been made.

Come & look

The intrepid explorers want everyone to see what they have found.

We wondered if we could find them again with no Ranger to show us where to look.

New location

Off we go again, to find a suitable site for the new village.

Ranger Dave leads the band of helpers deep into the wood.

New doors

Once a site is found, Dave unpacks the new doors.

These have been specially made and donated for the Fairies, Elves and Pixies of Haw Park Wood.

To Work

First we must find the right trees, then we need the right tools for the job.

There are gloves, chisels and hammers.

Working

Getting the door in exactly the right place takes time and skill.

Watching

We let the big people do the first doors. We watched - and offered welcome advice, of course.

Busy Folk

Soon everyone was busy, planning, helping, chipping and nailing.

Real Work

Of course we all had a go.

Admiring

And admired each other's handiwork.

It might have been cold and wet - but we all had a good time.
