We are the Wakefield DIABETES UK support group. We offer mutual support to anyone that has diabetes and to those who help other people with diabetes. Most of our members have diabetes and we have regular monthly meetings to talk through the issues that concern us. We offer support to help you manage your diabetes based on our own shared experience.
We invite health professionals to talk to us about important issues affecting diabetics including retinal screening, podiatry, weight management and blood glucose control. Please come along to listen, have a chat and enjoy a tea/coffee with us. Everyone is welcome.
The main Wakefield group meets at the West Wakefield Methodist Church (Thornes Road, Wakefield, WF2 8QR) on the 2nd Monday of each month between 18:30 - 20:30. Other sub-groups meet as follows, Castleford Group on the 1st Wednesday of the month 13:00 - 15:00 at 52 Beancroft Road, Hemsworth Group on the 1st Tuesday of the month 10:00 - 12:00 at The Springs Life Centre on Southmoor Road, Lupset Group on the 2nd Wednesday of the month 10:00 - 12:00 at Lupset Health Living Centre, Pontefract Group on the last Wednesday of the month 10:00 - 12:00 at Pontefract Library.
