September 2008
Dave Newbould came to the Community Centre to demonstrate painting with mixed media

There was a good turn out for Dave, as much a stand-up comic as an artist, he warmed the audience up with anecdotes and jokes

The preliminary sketch of a farm scene was done in ink, using a cotton bud.

To most of us the sketch looked good enough to frame as the finished product

But Dave continued to work, covering the canvas with colour, using acrylic paint

Once again the resulting picture looked worthy of a place on the wall

It was time for a break. Members took the opportunity to get a cup of tea .....

... and buy raffle tickets for the selection of prizes, donated by members.

The group settled back down to see the finishing touches made ....

... though not before Dave drew the raffle winners, and announced that his finished picture would be first prize.

Then back to work using pastels. He also demonstrated a way to create a lifelike tree, and gave information on buying good quality paper.

More details were added, plus hints on drawing cows

Adding his signature was the final touch

and the picture was complete. Needless to say, we were all very impressed by the end result.

Peggy was the lucky first prize winner and took Dave's painting home.

Ann, June, Janet and Ronnie also won prizes. Altogether a good time was had by all.
