Patchings 2008
On Friday June 6th members from Crofton and Manygates art groups enjoyed a coach trip to Patchings Art, Craft & Design Festival in Nottinghamshire.

Welcome
The festival is located at Patchings Farm, a lovely, welcoming site.

Exhibits
There was plenty to look at in the marquees - including watching artists at work.

Displays
A wide variety of craftwork was also on display.

Refreshments
And there was no shortage of places to go for refreshments - very well sign-posted too!

Music
Over lunchtime visitors were entertained with music from a jazz band.

Peace
For those wanting peace and quiet the surrounding area was ideal.

Variety
There was a tremendous variety of things to see, and plenty of posters telling you where to look.

Food
The refreshment tent was large and accommodating - just one place where food could be bought.

Portraits
There were artists giving demonstrations and others happy to paint portraits as visitors looked on.

People
It wasn't as crowded as last year so there felt to be more room to move around and a better chance of seeing what was going on

Queue
Even so, there were lengthy queues for the demontrations by artists such as David Bellamy, Ann Blockley, Keith Fenwick and Charles Evans.

Just Watching
And some found it difficult to see what was going on at some of the ad hoc demonstrations.

Trying Out
In the art materials tent there was an opportunity to try out different - and exciting - materials.

Just Playing
Some members had a go with the different products available.

Colour Mixing
It was fascinating to watch the professional colour mixer create unique colours, describing the equipment and procedure as she did so.

Lovely Day
Altogether it was a very enjoyable day out with plenty to see and do. Many thanks to Crofton Art Group's organisers.
