July Whitby visit
On Tuesday July 19th a coachful of members and friends went off to Whitby

Several roads were closed .....

... for a parade of soldiers before their tour of duty overseas.

Some went straight up to the Abbey

looking beautiful in the sunshine

We admired the view

before returning down the 199 steps.

Down in the harbour, serious work began

with several members doing sketches of the cliff view.

Individual concentration!

Group support.

Gulls were everywhere

posing for the artists

Everyone enjoyed the experience

of sketching different views.

Some kept working...

..while others enjoyed the local fayre.

The harbour, gulls, buildings ....

... boats and lobster pots made good subjects to draw.

And we couldn't visit Whitby without seeing the whalebone arch ...

.. and saying 'Hello' to Captain Cook. All in all, an excellent day - with remarkably good weather.
