Aims of the Group
On October 30th Jeremy Taylor led a still life workshop in Crofton Community Centre
Christine introduced Jeremy to the group.
Everyone gathered round to see examples of still life paintings
The objects Jeremy had set up made an interesting but quite difficult arrangement for painting
Everyone started by making a sketch, using a colour print of the still life to work from.
Jeremy called everyone round to explain more about the process.
He demonstrated the different effects created by changes in lighting.
The group was given hints and advice on how to paint a glass bottle, not the easiest of tasks.
There was a time of quiet concentration as members put the teaching into practice.
Putting a great deal of thought into the painting.
Jeremy demonstrated the next part of the picture - painting the mushroom.
When that was achieved, he moved on to the lemon, getting everyone to observe the fruit closely.
Jeremy's picture was nearing completion and looking good.
At each stage in proceedings Jeremy explained and demonstrated the colours and techniques.
He showed how to create a three-dimensional effect using light and shade.
The painting is coming along fine.
Pleased with the result.
Everyone agreed that Jeremy's finished piece was something to aim for. Jeremy was thanked for his inspirational class.
