David, born in Pontefract, educated at Pontefract Boys Secondary School and Whitwood Mining and Technical College where he gained AMEME Honours in Mechanical Engineering. He had a successful career in the mining industry and private sector in engineering, sales, and contracting, whilst at the same time being an active member of The Labour Party and Normanton Town Council.
David enjoys playing golf and is a member of Pontefract and District Golf Club.
