Founded in 1926 during the General Strike, CMVC was formed by choristers from several church choirs within the town. The Choir under its present conductor, Geoff Cox, has greatly improved over the past several years, with many festival successes. The strength of the Choir, which currently stands at around 55, is due in no small way to the Choir's improved standards. CMVC has sung in many prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall, York Minster, Selby Abbey, Sheffield Arena, Leeds Town Hall and Wakefield and Ripon Cathedrals. More recently the Choir has appeared on the BBC One Show
We perform at concerts, churches, wherever and whenever on request. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Choir or would like to book a concert, please contact our Secretary for details. We are always on the look out for new recruits and a solo quality voice is not essential. Basically all you need is the ability to sing in tune. If you are interested in singing with us why not drop in to one of our rehearsals at Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Castleford on Friday evenings between 7.30 & 9.30 pm. You'll be assured of a friendly welcome.
