Lions Clubs

We are proud of our record in meeting the needs of local people and also helping to meet international needs through our International Association. Over the years we have provided specialist equipment to both Castleford, Normanton and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary, as well as providing support to The Prince of Wales Hospice.

Local schools have also benefitted from our work over the years. Recently we have provided to every school in Castleford and District, literature produced by the Tacade Organisation [i] (The Teachers Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drug Education), which helps teachers promote Personal Health and Social Awareness, thus helping to instil the principles of good citizenship in our children.

We have also provided support to many local people in times of hardship when they most needed help. Among those we have been able to assist in different ways are; the young, the elderly, the infirm, the handicapped, schools, local churches, local sports clubs and others in distress both locally and internationally.

All these have been financed through our various fund raising activities within the local community such as our ever popular "Santa Runs" with Father Christmas and his regular band of helpers and our "Annual Fairground Organ Extravaganza" held at Junction 32 Shopping Village every year, where shoppers from both near and far donate generously to our funds.

Naturally, it's not all work being a Lion and we have frequent social activities where members and their friends can let their hair down and have a really good time with people who have similar interests.
