The Black Horse Poets are the longest running poetry group in the Wakefield District. We aim to produce, publish, perform and promote original poetry, from writers in the area. Membership is open to poets of all styles and abilities and we meet to workshop original work monthly. We publish a twice yearly journal 'From The Horses Mouth' and run a well established annual open poetry competition.
Workshop meetings on the last Tuesday of the month at Henry Boon’s, Westgate, Wakefield. 7:30pm- 9pm (close to city centre and railway station). New members welcome.??
MP Mary Creagh was inaugrated as Patron on Friday 20th June 2008. The group celebrated it's 10th Anniversary last year by publishing an anthology, 'Front Runner'. It features poems by members.
