Leeds based dance company Ascendance Rep is looking for volunteers for an exciting community project where music and dance respond to the cultural heritage of ten Yorkshire churches. The company has been working with over 200 children, interpreting local stories, histories, church architecture and memories through creative dance to help “people to learn about and understand our heritage”*.

A Grand Finale Dance Performance will take place at Wakefield Cathedral 6pm on 16th February 2008. The performance will be a culmination of the work that the children have produced through the dance heritage workshops. Ascendance Rep would like volunteers to assist them before, during and after the event to ensure the smooth running in the final stages of the project. If you are interested and would like to be part of this exciting event, please do not hesitate to contact Alison Brewerton, Volunteer Coordinator on 0113 245 4693 or at for more information.

All Volunteers will be entitled to free tickets to future Ascendance Rep performances, and Volunteer Performing Arts students will be eligible to work experience with the company’s education department. Roles include distribution of posters / flyers, refreshments, ticket sales, administration, ushers and chaperone duties, evaluation and keeping up to date records.
