Ackworth and District Probus Club

A picture for Ackworth-and-District-Probus-Club

Ackworth and District Probus Club was founded in 1981 through the auspices of and the support of Hemsworth Rotary Club (now sadly, no longer in existence). The Club has therefore just celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a presentation to two of the original founding members and a Dinner/dance at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel.

The purpose of the Ackworth Probus Club is to offer the opportunity for fellowship to retired and semi-retired men living in Ackworth and the surrounding area. We do this through both meetings and social events. These provide an opportunity to socialise and to build up new contacts, acquaintances and friends in Ackworth district to help replace some of those who we have lost when we retired from work.

We meet twice per month, every month throughout the year, on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 09:45am in the Boot and Shoe Pub on Wakefield Road in Ackworth Moor Top. There are other social activities such as dinners, lunches and outings throughout the year, to which wives, partners and friends are invited.

New members are always welcome.
