Hello and welcome to the website of the Community Food & Health Workers. The Food and Health Team previously worked on the 5 A DAY Project funded mainly through the Big Lotteries, the team is now employed by Wakefield West PCT and works across the Wakefield District to promote the Healthy Eating message.
The Food and Health Teams work covers Health Promotion and the development of projects to improve the diets of local people by working in the most deprived communities. The team comprises of four workers, at present Karen McGuire works from the Dancer, Beverley Juniper is based at Catherine’s Church Centre and they cover Wakefield West PCT areas. Carrie Fennell is based in Castleford at Smawthorne Community Project; Tim Whitaker is based at Langthwaite House South Kirby and they cover Eastern Wakefield PCT areas.
